Coping During Covid

During these unprecedented times, we are having to isolate ourselves and practice safe social distancing. Something we weren't expecting and did not plan for. Uncertainty and the fear of the unknown are playing a big role in our lives at the moment and for those suffering with their mental health this can be a negative weight.

Below are 4 tips to steer yourself into the right direction or help someone else feel better all by following our REST advice...

Routine: Make a day-to-day plan. Every time you complete a task, tick it off. It is surprising how satisfying it feels completing a list of To-Do. At the same time, don’t over face yourself, make a plan that is achievable. This will add structure to your day and a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Exercise: Exercise and movement is key, even it is walking around your garden or doing stretches from your sofa. Exercising releases endorphins and alleviates stress. There are many online classes you can take to suit your needs and abilities.

Socialise: Check in with your family and friends. Set up group chats and video calls. Regularly checking in with people can offer support for one another. A great way to do this is by scheduling in games nights each week.

Talk: Talking about how you feel or what’s on your mind can offload anxiety and stress. There is always someone to listen no matter how futile it may seem.

Be kind to yourself and REST!
