BOTTOMS UP TO LUDDINGTON

Michael Luddington is celebrating after being awarded Accounting Professional of the Year by North West based Adele Carr Financial Recruitment.

The finance director of Huyton based Halewood International, the company responsible for Lambrini, Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer and Red Square Vodka and agents for Lambs Navy Rum and Tsingtsao Beer has made a massive difference to the business by focussing it on timely and accurate reporting, improved margins, reducing costs and increasing efficiencies.

The judging panel which included Chris Houghton, MD of Park Group, Rob Crossland, CEO of Parasol and Max Steinberg, CEO of Liverpool Vision as well as the CFOs of Eddie Stobart (Ben Whawell) and Bibby Distribution (Paul Cullingford) and Dave Hutchinson of Warrington Wolves were all impressed that despite having to make some tough decisions, Michael who is originally from Stockton-on –Tees has won over his own team with his approachable manner and wicked sense of humour. He also provides a valuable sounding board for his fellow directors.

Peter Atkinson of sponsors Jackson Stephen LLP said, “Michael clearly possesses the key strengths required in an FD of being able to take the numbers and apply them to the operations and commercial aspects of the business to make improvements and to add value.”

It has been a tough week for Luddington following the death of owner John Halewood last weekend.

Managing Director Adele Carr commented, “Congratulations to Michael who fought off stiff competition from a number high profile nominees.”

Adele Carr Financial Recruitment started sponsoring Warrington Wolves three years ago back in 2007.

Since then their commitment to the club has continued to grow with the Warrington-based company taking up advertising, hospitality and player sponsorship.

Adele Carr sponsored Ben Harrison in the first year but for the last two years has also sponsored local player Chris Riley.

Having watched these two young players become the stars they are today Adele and her company are delighted to see the international recognition both players have received.

Earlier this week both Ben and Chris were named in the England train-on squad for the up-coming Four Nations in Australia.  Both have been part of the back-to-back Cup wins and have had a fantastic year with Chris opening the season with five tries.

Adele said: "Adele Carr Financial Recruitment has sponsored Ben and Chris for many years. They were shy unknowns on the periphery of Warrington's first team. It has been fantastic to watch them both flourish into first team regulars and now they are established Super League stars; Ben renowned for his bone crunching tackles and Chris at the top of the try-scoring charts. They are both down-to-earth lads who have helped us promote our business by attending our functions and being available for photo calls. No one will be prouder than us to see them pull on the England shirt."

Chris Riley commented on his England train-on selection and the support of his sponsor.

"It was a proud day for me and my family when I found out. Being selected for the England train-on squad is a massive achievement. I set my goals at the start of the year so to achieve this is great, especially on the back of a good season and us having played well as a team this year. I'd also like to thank Adele and her company for their support over the years and always being there to turn to."

ADELE CARR FINANCIAL RECRUITMENT IS OFFICIALLY THE BEST PLACE TO WORK IN THE NORTH WEST

Staff at Adele Carr Financial Recruitment are celebrating after the firm beat 26 other north west finalists to the Crains Best Place To Work 2010 Award in the Nearly Big category.

The Warrington based recruitment agency has continued to offer rewards and incentives for good performance of its team despite the economic downturn as well as continuing to invest in training and offering flexible working hours for parents.

Said Managing Director and mother of four  Adele Carr, “It is important that the team has a pleasant working environment and a good work life balance. Our team are rightly rewarded when they do well and we like to have as much fun as possible. We communicate our results quarterly and go out for a drink whatever the outcome.”

Administrator Alicia Little (21) from Warrington said, “I enjoy coming to work and I don’t think many 21-year-olds would say that. I previously worked for a company for a year doing administration but didn’t feel part of the team. As soon as I got here I knew I meant something and they have helped me progress by paying for my NVQs so I can better myself.”

Accounts manager Julie Doyle who is benefitting from further training said “I have worked at various companies but have never worked anywhere better in my life. There’s lots of flexibility.”

Adele Carr Financial Recruitment are shirt sponsors to Warrington Wolves and also sponsor home grown players Ben Harrison and Chris Riley and also sponsor racehorse Las Verglas Star.

The award was received by Adele Carr, Andrew Brown and  Diane Chance at a glitzy awards luncheon attended by 350 north west business professionals at The Piccadilly Ramada Hotel in Manchester.
